Mr Canterbury Tennis steps down ..... David Blackwell has decided to step down as Chief Executive of Canterbury Tennis after more than 20 years with the sport in this region. His reign has seen tennis blossom over time, but the recent earthquakes and their attendant devastation of the Wilding Park Complex and Clubs, have created an environment where a significant amount of effort will be required to rebuild facilities and re-establish competition in the province. David sees this as an "appropriate time to move on", although he will remain in his role until a replacement can be found (a process which may take several months). During this transitional time, David will be in a position to materialise the great sponsorship and funding opportunities he has firmly in hand. BPTC acknowledges David Blackwell's contribution to Canterbury Tennis over 20 years |

Ball-holders have been installed to all courts at BPTC Next time you're down playing at the Club, take a look at the right-side net-post (the net-post closest to the Club-house). New ball-holders have been rivetted to those posts, and it is hoped that members will place the balls from that particular court in the holders, rather than just leaving them on the ground, in-between games or when the court is not being used during regular playing sessions. The idea is two-fold. Firstly to keep the Club looking tidy, and secondly to provide a level of convenience for all players, as they come along and enjoy our facilities. Thanks to Anna Gell for arranging to have the holders made, and to her hubby Guy for assisting in their installation. Please support this initiative by using the holders. |
| MEMBERS NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND BPTC !! ..... so please ... if you know of anything that could be of interest to your fellow members (especially in the spirit of improving Club connectivity), please pass it on to your Webmaster for inclusion on the Club website. On the not so serious side ('cos it's no shame to have a bit of a laugh), John is well known for his total discretion and caring nature, so any secrets will be totally secure (for the meantime) ! |
