Sets in the City opening draw and more

Kia ora,
The season is off and running. With all that’s going on in tennis this month, Tennis Canterbury will be sending out weekly updates until the end of November. Please see the latest update below and get in touch if you have any questions.
SETS IN THE CITY
Tennis Canterbury is excited to be kicking off the new Sets in the City competition next Thursday evening, 5 November at 6pm. Clubs throughout the country have nominated their top male and female players to play off each week for $1000 prize money over eight Thursday nights in November and February. The winners are challenged the following week by other club representatives.
This Thursday’s challenge will see Burwood Park’s Reece Falck take on Jamie Garbett of Elmwood. The winner will go on to play New Zealand’s No. 2 singles player, Ajeet Rai of Wellington’s Khandallah club on the 12th.
In the women’s challenge, Elmwood’s Abby Mason will compete against Petra Belsova of Te Kura Hagley Park. The winner will likely face ITF winner and last year’s Canterbury Open women’s winner, Jade Otway of Tasman, the following week.
Come along for a great evening of tennis. Free for all ages. The café/bar will be open for spectators and live music will feature throughout the evening.
